Bulldogs head to Capital Cross Challenge

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State's cross country teams will head up the 99 on Saturday to compete in the fifth annual Capital Cross Challenge hosted by Sacramento State at Haggin Oaks Golf Course. This marks the third straight year that the Bulldogs have competed in the event.
The women's 6K features six teams which rank in the top 15 in the West Region while the men's 8K will have four.

BULLDOGS LINEUP
Racing on the women's side for the Bulldogs on Saturday morning will be Hailey Fernandez, Isabella Haberman, Jewel Jasso, Sophie Jimenez and Agita Svetere. The men's side will feature Nathan Burd, Matthew Founds, Jaden Uphoff, Josue Del Real, Alekos Mitchel, Sam Hawley and James Barrett.

NEW YEAR, NEW COACH
Jason Drake took over as the head coach of the Fresno State track and field and cross country programs on Aug. 21. With over 20-plus years as a distance coach at the Division I level at Washington, Washington State and Colorado, he will oversee the program's cross country teams this fall.

LOOKING AHEAD
Fresno State will be off until Oct. 19 before heading to Santa Clara for the Bronco Invitational, its last meet before the Mountain West Championships.
