The Fresno State men’s basketball team is set to open Mountain West play at home against Wyoming in late December (subject to state, county and local approvals) with nonconference games to be announced in the coming weeks.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Fresno State men's basketball team will open its campaign for the 2020-21 Mountain West regular season championship with a home game against the Wyoming Cowboys on Dec. 29, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Subject to approval from state, county and local officials, the 18-game league slate will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 29 and conclude on Saturday, March 6. Of note, Fresno State will not travel to play at New Mexico and will not host Utah State as part of the rotational league schedule.
Each institution has nine home games and nine road contests during the Conference season. League play will determine the seeding for the 2021 MW Men's Basketball Championship, which will be held March 10-13 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Today's release represents the first phase in the 2020-21 men's basketball schedule process. Mountain West national television partners CBS Sports and FOX Sports will now initiate a selection procedure, which will include the shifting of several games from their current Saturday and Tuesday dates.
Additional announcements on television selections and nonconference matchups will be made in the coming weeks.
