FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State volleyball head coach Jonathan Winder has announced the addition of San Francisco transfer Moana To'oto'o to the 2020 squad on Thursday.
Moana To'oto'o (Moe-ON-uh Toe-oh-toe-oh)
Position:Â Libero/Defensive Specialist
Height: 5-8
Year: Junior
Hometown:Â Waimanalo, Hawaii
Previous School: San Francisco
High School:Â Maryknoll HS
Winder on To'oto'o:
"We are thrilled to add Moana to our program. As we went through the process she immediately stood out with her poise, motivation to be great on and off the court, and her confident easy going way. She has proven to be a successful passer at our level. Defensively, she sees the game really well and has a lot of versatility. Throughout her career she's adapted as a teammate playing in multiple positions, leading her to excel as a libero. She has a great blend of athleticism, volleyball IQ, and confidence. Moana is going to do great things with our team, elevating our program even higher and making our University proud."
Spending the last two seasons competing at the University of San Francisco, To'oto'o arrives at Fresno State after appearing in 28 matches and 84 sets played for the Dons.
Helping USF to eight wins as a sophomore in 2019, the Waimanalo, Hawaii native saw action in 21 matches, including four starts. Playing in 73 sets, To'oto'o ranked third on the club with 2.70 digs per set and fourth on the team with 197 digs. She tallied a career-high 24 digs in a five-set win at home over Gonzaga and recorded nine double-digit dig performances.
To'oto'o made her collegiate debut for the Dons as a freshman in 2018 appearing in seven matches and playing in 11 sets in her first year on The Hilltop. She made her collegiate debut versus Cal Baptist, recording three digs and posted three multi-dig matches during the season, including a season-high four at Gonzaga.
A four-year varsity player and two-time captain at Maryknoll High School in Hawaii, To'oto'o led her team in digs during her career and was twice named Honorable Mention Interscholastic League of Honolulu. She played her club volleyball for Rainbows Volleyball Club and Piko Volleyball Club while competing in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships.
To'oto'o says she chose Fresno State because of the team, coaches, school, and facilities along with the people of Fresno being very nice and welcoming.    Â
To'oto'o joins a pair of high school signees from November, outside hitter Brooklyn Lopez and middle blocker Kasey Purry, as new Bulldogs set to join the team this fall.
