Tykha named Scholar All-American

A total of five Bulldogs were honored by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America for their accomplishments in the pool and the classroom.
FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State sophomore Yuliya Tykha earned a place on the 2019-20 College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team.

The distinction recognizes student-athletes who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship.

Fresno State's Athena Clayson, Kimberly Harbert, Manuela Mendolicchio and Irina Nikolaeva received Scholar All-America honorable mention accolades from the CSCAA.

Tykha – a native of Zaporozhye, Ukraine – also earned CSCAA All-American honors in April when she finished ninth on platform at the NCAA Zone E Diving Qualification meet to qualify for the later canceled NCAA Championship. Tykha was the first Bulldog to earn All-American honors since Hannah Prigge in 2014.

As a team, the Fresno State swimming and diving program earned CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors with a program-record 3.67 team grade point average during the 2020 spring semester. This spring, a record nine student-athletes from the swimming and diving team earned a 4.00 GPA. To receive the Scholar All-America distinction, teams are required to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the spring semester and maintain a roster of 12 or more student-athletes.
