Sophomore forward Orlando Robinson scored 15 points with eight rebounds in the Bulldogs' 79-65 loss at Nevada on Sunday.
RENO, Nev. – The Fresno State men's basketball team lost 79-65 to the Nevada Wolf Pack on the road at Lawlor Events Center on Sunday afternoon.
Fresno State (5-5, 3-5 Mountain West) battled down the stretch, but couldn't overcome 18 turnovers and a 23-for-37 clip (63.3 percent) at the free throw line.
The Bulldogs were led in scoring by sophomore forward Orlando Robinson, who had 15 points and eight rebounds.
Grant Sherfield scored a game-high 27 points, which including a perfect 10-for-10 day at the charity stripe, for Nevada (10-5, 5-3 MW).
How it happened: Both teams struggled offensively for much of the first half, with neither team shooting better than 35 percent from the field before halftime.
 Â
Fresno State dialed up some full court and pressure defense in the second half, which helped spark a few runs – trimming a double-digit deficit to single digits three times before the Wolf Pack withstood the rallies and pulled away.
Â
In addition to Robinson's 15 points, the Bulldogs also got 13 points each from sophomore guards Isaiah Hill and Deon Stroud.
Â
Four of Fresno State's six 3-pointers came off the stroke of Junior Ballard en route to 12 of the Bulldog reserves' 18 points.
For the game, the 'Dogs did have a slight edge in rebounding with Fresno State grabbing 34 rebounds to Nevada's 32 boards.

On the game...
"What we've talked about since we started back practicing was to be a team that doesn't beat yourself. Mature teams don't beat themselves, and maturity can come at different ages. You don't have to be a senior or a junior. Sometimes that helps, if you've actually played together. But mature teams don't beat themselves. What you're finding out, I thought tonight, I thought our intensity was there. We got better at some offensive concepts. I thought defensively we weren't good on pick and roll early in the game, but we got better as it went along. But what we did do were silly turnovers while we're making a run and missed free throws while we're making a run."
On a quick turnaround with a two-game series at Boise State starting on Wednesday night...
"It's not going to get any easier. We tried hard, but that doesn't guarantee success. Just because we say we want to do some things, it's not going to happen overnight. We'll be ready. We have to make sure we keep our legs right, but mentally I expect us to be ready to go."
Next up: Fresno State will next play at Boise State on Wednesday (FS1) and Friday (CBSSN). Both games will also be broadcast on 940 AM ESPN Radio.
Fresno State's next home game is Jan. 28 when the Bulldogs host New Mexico at the Save Mart Center.
