Fresno State junior forward Orlando Robinson earned 2021-22 Preseason All-Mountain West honors.
The Breakdown
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State junior forward Orlando Robinson collected his first major preseason recognition by earning one of five spots on the 2021-22 Preseason All-Mountain West team, as selected by conference media members.
Â
Robinson, who also has a chance to earn his way into consideration for the 2022 Karl Malone Award (power forward) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award (center) national watch lists, decided to return to Fresno State for his junior season after declaring for the NBA Draft in May.
Â
As a sophomore last season, Robinson (14.6 ppg/9.2 rpg) ranked 19th nationally in double-doubles – starting all 24 games for the Bulldogs.
Â
Robinson scored a career-high 33 points in the Bulldogs' 81-61 win over Wyoming in early January and had a career-best 16 rebounds to key a 64-62 win versus New Mexico later that month.
Â
Since the season ended, Robinson has been hard at work on his craft, refining all facets of his game.
Â
"Orlando – he works really hard and he's just a terrific young man," Fresno State head coach Justin Hutson said of Robinson. "Not only does he work hard on the floor, he works hard in the classroom."
Â
Fresno State was also picked to finish sixth by a select group of MW media members. The Bulldogs have finished in the Top 4 of the conference standings in four of the last six seasons.
