The Breakdown
LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Fresno State volleyball team fell in four sets at Wyoming on Thursday evening at the UniWyo Sports Complex.
Fresno State (11-12, 7-8 MW) fell 25-18, 19-25, 22-25, 25-27 to Wyoming (16-12, 8-8 MW).
How It Happened
Getting off to a hot start in the opening set, the 'Dogs took a 10-5 lead after one of three service aces by Grace Doyle in the contest. A service error followed by an attack error for the Cowgirls kept the Bulldogs lead at five, 16-11 and they kept a five-point lead before a service error and a kill by Desiree Sukhov gave the 'Dogs a 25-18 win.
A service ace by Rud got the 'Dogs off to another strong start in the second set taking a 7-6 lead. Wyoming responded with four straight points to take a 10-7 lead and after a kill by Kasey Purry brought the 'Dogs back within one at 15-14, a 7-0 run by the Cowgirls put away the set for Wyoming.
Set three saw the Bulldogs get out to another great start leading 8-1 after a kill by Rud. The 'Dogs stayed in the lead at 15-9 after a solo block by Doyle, but a 7-1 run by the Cowgirls tied the set at 16. Back-to-back kills by Mikayla Weiss & Sukhov and an ace by Rud put the 'Dogs up three at 19-16, but a 9-3 run by Wyoming closed out the set.
The fourth set saw the 'Dogs stay close through the early going trailing only by a pair after a kill by Weiss made it 14-12 in favor of Wyoming. An ace by Doyle tied the set at 15 and a block by Doyle and Savanah Smith on the Cowgirls' Naya Shime tied the set at 22. After ties at 24 and 25, the final two points of the match went the way of Wyoming on a pair of kills.

The Bulldogs head to Mountain West leader Colorado State (16-8, 12-3 MW) on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT.
