’Dogs, Sunbirds meet again Friday

Fresno State and Fresno Pacific will meet for the second time in as many weeks at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center when the Bulldogs and Sunbirds square off in women’s tennis on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. PT.
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's tennis team will host its fourth-straight home match to open the 2021 spring season when the Bulldogs host the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds on Friday at approximately 4 p.m. PT.
The contest will begin shortly after the conclusion of the Fresno State men's tennis team's season opener with UC Davis.
This is the second meeting in as many weeks between the 'Dogs and Sunbirds at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. Fresno State swept FPU 7-0 in its home opener on Feb. 3.
Fresno State (2-1) is being coached by first-year head coach Denise Dy, who is back home in her home state of California after a rising collegiate coaching career at Iowa, Washington and Arizona.
Last week, Fresno State sophomore Cristina Flaquer (Barcelona, Spain/LMU) went 3-0 at No. 3 singles for the Bulldogs and also recorded a 1-1 record with No. 1 doubles partner Deniza Marcinkevica, which included a 7-5 win over Sacramento State's Jayden Nielsen and Megan Tagaloa.
Due to current state guidelines, fans are not able to attend home matches during the 2021 season. All in-person activities are subject to approval from state, county and local officials. Matches and times are subject to change.
