- Fresno State has gained ground in the series after winning seven of the last eight, and 11 of the last 13.

Let's go back-to-back                                                                                                                          Â
Prior to the last two weeks, Fresno State will have only played one back-to-back series this season. The Bulldogs opened conference play in early December facing Colorado State on the third and fourth. It was a split with CSU taking the first game and Fresno State the second.
Â
Fast forward to months, the Mountain West revised its original schedule due to multiple teams previously postponing games. By compressing the schedule to make up those games, Fresno State was forced to play back-to-back games in consecutive weeks in February. The Bulldogs swept Air Force last week with 18- and eight-point wins. They will now turn their attention to back-to-back games with San Diego State this week after eight days without a contest.
Â
Socially distant defense                                                                                                                      Â
The Bulldogs have done well in the past about not fouling but this season, they have taken it to another level while playing through a pandemic. Fresno State leads the NCAA in fewest personal fouls per game, committing 12.7 per contest.
- The 'Dogs have committed 65 less fouls than its opponents. That has resulted in Fresno State attempting 107 more free throws than its opponents, or 5.6 more free throws per game.
Â
Record-high scoring                                                                                                                             Â
Averaging 80.2 points per game thus far, the Bulldogs' offense is scoring 4.1 points per game better than a year ago when they posted the second-highest season average in program history (76.1 ppg). The 'Dogs are currently on pace to break the program record of 78.4 points per game which was set during the 1986-87 season.
- Fresno State ranks 17th nationally in scoring offense (80.2 ppg) and is shooting at a 46.3 percent clip which ranks 22nd in the NCAA.
