Fresno State hosts its first home meet of the season on Thursday, welcoming No. 10 UC Davis to the Student Horse Center. First ride is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT. Due to local and state guidelines, no fans are allowed at the Student Horse Center for this event.

'Dogs in the rankings
Fresno State ranked No. 8 in the latest NCEA team rankings, announced on Tuesday Feb. 23. The Bulldogs were No. 9 heading into their meet at UC Davis last week, but after the win, the 'Dogs were moved to No. 8 and stayed there for the last two weeks.

The Bulldogs opened the season with a 10-9 win at No. 10 UC Davis on Feb. 13.

Fresno State had one of the best seasons in its equestrian program history last year before the cancelation in March. The Bulldogs were 8-5 on the season, with a 3-2 Big 12 record in their first season with the conference. Fresno State picked up wins over six ranked opponents, including the then-No.2 and No. 3 teams. The 'Dogs earned their highest-ever team ranking last year as the fourth-ranked squad.

The Bulldogs return Big 12 Reining Rider of the Year and first team All-American Bailey Alexander for her second year of collegiate riding. Fresno State also returns All-American talent in Hannah Buijs (horsemanship) and Cecily Hayes (fences and flat). Hayes became the first Bulldog to ever earn All-America honors in both jumping seat events in program history.

Western 'Dogs
- The western squads won 6-3 at UC Davis behind three points in each event.
- Fresno State swept the western MOPs in their season opener at UC Davis. Kameron Thorn won the horsemanship MOP with a 76.5-74.5 win. Lexee Padrick was the reining MOP winner with a 70-69 ride.
- Senior Paley Capachi won her first career reining point as a Bulldog at UC Davis, outscoring her opponent 65-63.
- Emily Maul tied in her first horsemanship ride as a Bulldog with a 74.5.
- Fresno State added eight new western riders for the 2020-21 season - seven freshmen and a transfer from Oklahoma State.
- Fresno State fell 6-4 in the jumping seat events at UC Davis, earning two points in each of the events.
- Freshman Grace Mathias won her first collegiate flat point with a 74-70 ride.
- Junior Cecily Hayes won the fences MOP with a 82-40 win.
- Sophomore Ana Bertozzi was undefeated in both events at UC Davis, winning her fences point (81-73) and her flat point (80-72).
- Fresno State added five true freshmen to its jumping seat roster for the 2020-21 season.
Scouting UC Davis (0-1, 0-0 ECAC)
- UC Davis' only competition of the spring was against the Bulldogs on Feb. 13.
- The Aggies are only scheduled to face Fresno State this spring, before heading to the ECAC Championships.
- UC Davis remained as the No. 10 team in the nation according to the latest NCEA poll released on Tuesday. The No. 10 ranking for the Aggies is tied for the highest in the history of the program.
- Junior Keely Laughlin (fences), freshman Carly Sweeney (flat), and sophomore Macey Newkirk (reining) were named ECAC Riders of the Week in their respective events.
- UC Davis saddled up a total of 12 underclassmen — including five true freshmen — in its season-opener against Fresno State.
- The Aggies were 3-6 (2-1 ECAC) a season ago. UC Davis is entering its third year of collegiate competition after adding the sport in the spring of 2018.
