FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State lacrosse team had a player named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row as freshman defender Devon Ortman picked up the conference honor this week, the organization announced on Monday.
Â
The Bulldogs had two games on the road last week at Robert Morris on Tuesday and at Arizona State on Saturday. On the week, Ortman totaled one goal, one assist, three shots, five ground balls, one caused turnover and 11 draw controls.
Â
Ortman was a big playmaker for the Bulldogs at Robert Morris, finishing the game with one goal on two shots, one assist, three ground balls, and eight draw controls. Her eight draws are the third-most in a game in program history. Her goal at RMU was her second collegiate goal, made on a free-position attempt.
Â
The freshman recorded three ground balls in Fresno State's 35 ground ball performance at RMU. The 35 ground balls are the second-most in a game in program history, and the fourth-most in a game in the NCAA this season.
Â
At Arizona State, Ortman recorded a pair of ground ball pickups, three draw controls and one shot.
Â
Ortman is the second Bulldog to be honored by the MPSF this season. The Bulldogs look toward their home opener versus Cal on Friday, Mar. 5. Due to current state guidelines, fans are not able to attend home games at the Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium during the 2021 season.
