How It Happened
After dropping the opening set, 25-17, the Bulldogs regrouped in the second set taking an early 9-8 lead (watch) on an attack error by the Rams.
The 'Dogs continued to build their lead breaking a 9-9 tie by using a 8-2 run to take a 17-11 lead that was punctuated by a solo block by Doyle (watch). Back-to-back kills by Kelley extended the 'Dogs lead to 22-16 and the set closed out with a CSU attack error (watch) to even the match at one set apiece.
The Rams took control in set three with a 25-12 set win before the 'Dogs battled tough in the fourth set tying the score at 13-13 on a kill by Smith (watch).
After scoring two more to take a 15-13 advantage, the Rams went on a 7-0 run to take a 20-15 lead and force a Bulldog timeout. A pair of blocks by Doyle and Smith out of the timeout briefly got the momentum back for the 'Dogs, but CSU scored five of the final six points to take the set, 25-17.
