Bulldogs split Sunday meets with Baylor and Oklahoma State

FORT WORTH, Texas -Â The No. 5 Fresno State equestrian team wrapped up a busy weekend in Texas with a win against Baylor and a loss to Oklahoma State on Sunday. The Bulldogs earned a 9-6 win against No. 7 Baylor and took a narrow 8-7 loss to No. 6 Oklahoma State. The Bulldogs moved to 4-2 on the season, and 2-1 in Big 12 competition.Â
In the meet versus Baylor, Fresno State saw Most Outstanding Performer rides from Ana Bertozzi (fences) and Kameron Thorn (horsemanship). Against Oklahoma State, the Bulldogs had MOP caliber rides from Lizzie Stodden (fences) and Lexee Padrick (reining). Stodden earned her first career MOP on Sunday.

vs No. 7 Baylor
Fresno State and Baylor got the morning started in the fences as Fresno State had a 3-0 advantage in the event. The Bulldogs won points from Bertozzi's MOP ride, and Sara Tuck and Grace Mathias. Tuck won her point on a 77-71 outing and Mathias rode for a 71-70 point. Hayes tied in her ride in the event. In the reining, the teams tied 2-2. Julianne Kelley and Lexee Padrick earned their points in the event. Kelley scored a 72.5 and Padrick scored a 71 in their rides.Â
Fresno State had a 5-2 lead over Baylor at the half.Â
The flat was another 2-2 tie for the teams as Bulldogs Bertozzi and Hayes won their points. Hayes scored an 81 in the event for the highest Bulldog score of the day. For the third time in the afternoon, the teams tied 2-2 in the horsemanship. Fresno State earned points from Hannah Buijs and Thorn. Buijs scored a 76 to her opponent's 73.5, and Thorn rode for an MOP score of 76.5.Â

vs No. 6 Oklahoma StateÂ
In the fences, the teams tied 2-2. The Bulldog points were earned by Hayes and Stodden. Hayes scored her point on a 83-55 ride and Stodden rode for her MOP with a career-best 85-84 point. The teams tied in the reining, 2-2. The first Bulldog point came from Bailey Alexander in a 70.5-68.5 ride, and Padrick who scored her MOP point in a 72-65.5 ride.Â
At the break, the teams were tied 4-4.Â
Oklahoma State took the flat, 3-1. The lone Bulldog point was earned by Bertozzi in a 83-68 ride. The flat event pushed the Cowgirls ahead 7-5 with the horsemanship remaining in the afternoon. The Bulldogs opened the horsemanship event with two points from Alexis Steele and Emily Maul to tie the meet at seven apiece. But, from there, the next point was a tie and Oklahoma State earned the following team point on a 77-74 win to seal their team win in the meet.
