FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State junior attacker Sydney Skalstad was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Skalstad earns her second career MPSF Offensive Player of the Week honor, and the seventh conference weekly award of her career. The junior earned the title of Rookie of the Week five times in her freshman season.
Â
Skalstad fired a game-high six goals against Oregon on Sunday. Not only were her six goals a season-high, but they were the most in a game for the junior attacker since she set the program record with eight goals against Stetson in 2020. Her six goals against the Ducks ties the conference season-high on the season.Â
Â
Skalstad scored a career-best four free-position goals, on five attempts in the game. Skalstad scored four of Fresno State's seven free-position goals in the game for the team's second-most free-position goals in a game in program history and third-most attempts (14). The junior totaled nine shots in the contest with Oregon, all nine were on goal. Skalstad also had one ground ball, four draw controls and one caused turnover against the Ducks. She did not commit an offensive turnover herself.
Â
Skalstad and the Bulldogs turn their focus towards conference play, set to begin this Saturday at San Diego State. Opening draw against the Aztecs is set for noon.
