SAN DIEGO – The Fresno State softball team split the doubleheader against San Diego State on Friday. The Bulldogs (35-10, 19-4 MW) fell in the first game 2-1 before defeating the Aztecs (28-15, 13-10 MW) 1-0 in run rule fashion in game two.
Senior Miranda Rohleder went 3-for-4 (.750) on the day with one home run and three RBIs. In the circle, Dariana Orme earned a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts in game two.
GAME ONE – Fresno State struck first in the second inning. Hayleigh Galvan hit a leadoff single to get the offense going. Alesia Denby made it back-to-back singles to put two runners on base. Schuylar Broussard laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners into scoring position. Back-to-back Bulldogs being hit by a pitch brought in the run.
SDSU took the lead with a two-run inning in the fifth. The leadoff batter drew a walk and then a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt on the next batter would allow a run to score. The Aztecs would score the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly to left field to end the inning.

GAME TWO – The Bulldogs bounced back from the loss with a leadoff homerun from Galvan to left field in the second inning. Kaitlyn Jennings followed with a single up the middle to score Scuylar Broussard who drew a walk. Rohleder blasted a two-run home run to center field to finish the inning.
Broussard hit a one-out single in the top of the fourth. Jennings followed with a single up the middle to plate a run. Rohleder chalked her third RBI of the game with a single to left field, bringing in Jennings.
Fresno State completed the run rule victory with a three-run fifth inning. Vanessa Hernandez drew a leadoff walk and Adrianna Noriega moved her to third with a single through the right side. Noriega stole second to put two runners in scoring positions. Galvan loaded the bases by hitting a single to the shortstop. Denby sent up a sacrifice fly to bring across a run. Broussard belted a two-RBI double to left field to end the game.
