'Dogs Summer Baseball Update No. 1

FRESNO, Calif. - The Diamond 'Dogs summer league play is underway with 10 'Dogs in action in leagues around the country.
Andrew Kachel, Infielder, Santa Barbara Foresters
The Foresters are off to a 8-1 start to the summer with Kachel playing in nine games with a .419 average from the plate.
The first-team All-MW selection has collected 13 hits, including four doubles and a home run, eight RBI and 13 runs scored.
With a base knock in eight of nine games, Kachel had a three-hit performance with an RBI in a 7-1 win over the Orange County Riptide on June 26.
Luna has appeared in nine games for the Pickles hitting .200 with five hits in 25 at-bats with a double & home run, four RBI, four runs scored and walked nine.
The Oceanside native has a hit in six contests and smacked a two-run home run in a 4-3 victory over Ridgefield Raptors on June 27.
Grotto has appeared in 15 contests for the Blues getting off to a hot start hitting .446 with 25 hits in 56 at-bats and has registered seven doubles and one home run.
The Clovis native got off to a blazing start to the summer with three straight three-hit performances against the Lincoln Potters from June 11-13 scoring six runs and driving in 12 RBI.
Vinny Bologna, Outfeilder, San Luis Obispo Blues
Bologna joined the San Luis Obispo Blues on June 25 and smacked a two-run home run on June 27 in a 4-3 win over the Humboldt Crabs.
Newton has played in six games for the Cardinals this summer hitting .294 with five hits in 17 at-bats with a double, nine runs scored, drawn 10 walks and swiped six stolen bases.
He has notched a pair of two-hit contests and had a single, double, scored two runs in an 11-1 win over the Westmont Red Sox on June 20.
Marco Pirruccello, Infielder, Alaska Goldpanners
Pirruccello has played in 14 games for the Goldpanners so far this summer hitting .345 from the plate with 19 hits in 55 at-bats adding two doubles, two triples and a home run.
The Rocklin native has scored 11 runs and driven in 17 RBI and has a hit in 11 games with two three-hit contests against the Seattle Studs on June 2 and the Everett Merchants on June 23.
In the 7-2 win over the Merchants, Pirruccello tallied a triple, four RBI, scored two runs and stole a base.
Blake Wink, Infielder, Anchorage Glacier Pilots
Wink has played in 17 games for the Glacier Pilots this summer hitting .299Â from the dish with 20Â hits, including a pair of doubles, four RBI and eight runs scored.
With a base knock in 13 contests, the Yorba Linda native went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and stole a base in a 5-4 win over the Anchorage Bucs on June 23.
Josh Lauck, Infielder, Humboldt Crabs
Lauck has played in 10 games for the Crabs this summer hitting .294 with 10 hits in 34 at-bats to go along with seven RBI, eight runs scored and has drawn nine walks.
With a hit in six games, the Saratoga, Calif. native went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI in a 10-5 win over the Seattle Studs on June 17.
Will Springer, Pitcher, Humboldt Crabs
Springer has appeared in seven games for the Crabs with one start and has posted a 1-1 record in 17.0 innings striking out 19 while walking three.
In a 7-2 win over the Redding Tigers on June 23, Springer got the start tossing a season-high four innings earning the win while allowing only two earned runs and struck out three.
Tyler Davis, Catcher, Western Nebraska Pioneers
Davis has played in 18 games for the Western Nebraska Pioneers in the Expedition League this summer hitting .294 from the dish adding three doubles & three home runs, driven in 12 RBI and scored 18 runs.
The Fresno native helped the Pioneers clinch a spot in the Expedition League playoffs in mid-August by winning the first half of the season on Sunday and have a 22-7 overall record to lead the Clark Division.
With a hit in 14 games, Davis had a season-high three hits, including a three-run home run on June 18 in a 7-3 win over the Hastings Sodbusters.
