'Dogs falter at No. 7 Washington

SEATTLE -Â The Fresno State volleyball team fell in straight sets at No. 7 Washington on Thursday evening at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Fresno State (3-4) dropped sets 23-25, 17-25, 17-25 to Washington (7-1).
How It Happened
The 'Dogs got off to a strong start in the opening set jumping out to a 10-7 lead after a service ace by Ella Rud. A kill by Savanah Smith locked up the set at 18-18 and a 3-0 run put the Bulldogs up a pair at 21-19. The Huskies answered back with five of the next six points to go up 24-22 and a UW service error brought the 'Dogs within one, but Washington took advantage of a Bulldog attack error for the win.
The Bulldogs again got off to a strong start in the second set taking a 9-4 lead on a kill by Amaria Kelley and a kill by Desiree Sukhov put the 'Dogs ahead 10-7. A 12-2 run for Washington put the Huskies up 19-12 and the Bulldogs were unable to get any closer than six the remainder of the set.
The third set saw the 'Dogs get off to a 7-7 start after a kill by Mikayla Weiss and an attack error, but the Huskies responded going on an 11-4 run to take an 18-11 lead. The 'Dogs reeled off three straight points with back-to-back kills and an attack error to get within four, but Washington scored seven of the set's final 10 points to complete the sweep.
