The Fresno State men’s golf team earned a third-place finish in the Fall 2021 Nick Watney Invitational at San Joaquin Country Club.
The Breakdown
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State men's golf team earned a third-place finish in the Fall 2021 Nick Watney Invitational at San Joaquin Country Club, which concluded on Tuesday afternoon in northwest Fresno.
Six Bulldogs placed in the Top 20 in the individual competition: Michael Cliff (T-6th), Seldon Doyle (T-6th), Kevin Huff (14th), Andrew Lee (T-15th), Matthew Sutherland (T-19th) and Matthew Manganello (T-19th).
The winner of individual medalist honors was Sacramento State's Ethan Davidson, while Stanislaus State's Michael Jura III was the runner-up.
Fresno State will next compete in the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno, Nev., where the winner will earn a spot in the area's annual PGA Tour stop. The tournament, returning for the first time since the 2011-12 season, will take place on Oct. 11-12, 2021 at Hidden Valley Country Club.

- Fresno State senior Michael Cliff tied for sixth to earn his ninth career Top 20 collegiate finish (third Top 10 finish).
- Fresno State junior Seldon Doyle earned his best collegiate individual finish by also tying for sixth place.

- This was the Bulldogs' 57th all-time home tournament, which was originally titled the Fresno State Classic and renamed after Fresno State alumnus and PGA Tour star Nick Watney in 2014.
