FROM THE COACH
On this weekend...
"We are excited to get back to competition. Our first meet down at Riverside was so much better than the last time we were there in 2019 as a team. The Sac State event is at a course we have not seen before, but there will be some teams we match up well with. I'm excited for our team to compete with them."
Â
On the women...
"Last meet we lined up a ton of freshmen running their first 6K. Every race will be better for them as they figure out the longer distance. We had a great pack together in Riverside and I look for them to move up a bit as the weeks go by and they continue to gain experience."
Â
"Elena, will rest this meet, and be back for Santa Clara in a couple of weeks. She continues to train well, we just want to be safe with her and have her ready for the Mountain West Championships and beyond."
Â
On the men...
"We get veterans Matt Founds and Jaden Uphoff back in the mix this week. Both these guys have been number one for us in the past, and I expect them to be right there with our top guys. Juanathan Reyes was so close to having a perfect day last time out, just a little excited early in the race. I look for him to be a little more patient, and he will continue to move up as he gains critical race experience."
MOVING UP THE CHARTS
Last time out in Riverside, not one, but two Bulldogs hit times that rank in the Top 10 in program history. On the women's side, junior Elena Miezava lowered her time which was already inside the Top 5. She now sits third in the 6K with a time of 20:35. On the men's side, sophomore Juanathan Reyes bypassed 15 Bulldogs, jumping to No. 10 on the men's 8K list, clocking a time 24:23.
BULLDOG WOMEN OPEN SEASON WITH SECOND-PLACE SHOWING
