FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 7 Fresno State equestrian team begins its season this weekend, hosting a tri-meet with No. 9 South Carolina and No. 6 TCU on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

- Head coach Eric Hubbard enters his 10th season at the helm of the Fresno State equestrian program, having served as the program's interim head coach from 2013-15.
- Assistant coaches Mary Brown (western) and Caitlin Marshall (jumping seat) enter their fifth seasons with the 'Dogs.
- Fresno State opens the 2021-22 season at home, the first time the Bulldogs have opened the season with a home meet since the 2018-19 season.
- Fresno State finished the 2021 spring season with a 5-6 record.
- Fresno State was ranked No. 7 in the NCEA preseason team rankings.
- The Bulldogs were ranked as high as No. 5 in the NCEA a season ago.
- The Bulldogs have 27 riders who return from the 2019-20 roster.
- A pair of 'Dogs in Lexee Padrick (reining) and Ana Bertozzi (flat) return as All-Americans. Padrick earned second team all-america honors after finishing her junior campaign with a 5-4-1 record with two MOPs on the season. Bertozzi was an honorable mention honoree in the flat, finishing the year with a 8-1-1 mark and one MOP in the event a season ago.
- Â Bertozzi and Padrick also earned All-Big 12 recognition in their respective events. Bertozzi was also an All-Big 12 selection in the fences.
- Joining the duo as all-conference caliber riders were Julianne Kelley (reining) and Kameron Thorn (horsemanship). All four Bulldogs return for the 2021-22 season.
- Â Fresno State added 10 newcomers to the roster for this season.
No. 9 South Carolina
- South Carolina opened its season at UC Davis on Thursday, Sept. 30. The Aggies won, 11-6.
- Three Gamecocks earned All-America honors last year, with Sloane Vogt earning First Team honors for Reining, Madeline Schaefer earning Second Team honors for Fences, and Caroline Bald earning Second Team honors on the Flat.
- South Carolina enters the season at No. 9 in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association rankings.
- South Carolina returns a trio of All-Americans in Sloane Vogt & Caroline Bald, and Madeline Schaefer.
- This is the first time since 2017 that the Gamecocks open their season on the road.
- TCU comes in at No. 6 in the preseason NEA rankings.
- TCU competed for the title in the Big 12 Championship but finished second to then-No. 3 Oklahoma State.
- TCU is scheduled to compete in a total of 13 meets this season, with six of those competition dates coming against Big 12 Conference squads.
- TCU finished the 2021 season with a 6-6 record, 2-3 record in conference play.
- TCU returns six of its seven NCEA All-Americans from a season ago in Mattie Dukes, Anna Hauter, Jessica McAllister, Jacey Albaugh, Isabella Baxter, and Ashleigh Scully.
