SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Continuing her progression since returning to the Valley this summer, Fresno State's Corie Smith moved into the program's Top 10 on Saturday morning at the Bronco Invitational. Running a time of 21:21.8, the sophomore is tied for ninth all-time in the 6K at Fresno State.
Smith's time on Saturday was just under 26 seconds faster than her first 6K with the Bulldogs last month at the UC Riverside Invitational.
Shaylee Grimm kept ahold of the No. 2 spot for the 'Dogs, finishing in 22:37.2. Mia Jauregui and Morgan Hutchison finished in 22:48.5 and 22:51.8, respectively.
In the men's 8K, Mohamed Saleh went under 25 minutes for the first time in his career, crossing the line with a time of 24:46.6. The time was seven seconds outside of the program's Top 25.
In his first race for the 'Dogs since last fall, Jaunathan Reyes finished in 25:45.4. Back in action after missing the Bulldogs' last meet, Sam Hawley came in at 26:12.4.

On his teams' performances…
"We talked about simply being better than a month ago, and today that was the case overall for our squads. They continue to improve each meet."
On Corie Smith…
"Corie continues to just get a little better each week and she showed that today. That is a nice improvement since we raced at Riverside. I'm excited to see where another month takes us."
On Morgan Hutchison returning to form…
"Morgan was the other bright spot today. After a slow start to the season she is rounding back into 2021 form. I'm excited to see where she is with some more training under her belt."
On Mohamed Saleh…
"Mohamed had his best race as a Bulldog today. He was patient, went out smart and was passing bodies right and left. It will be fun to see him run 10K at the west region. I think he can pick off another 20-30 spots in the additional mile."

The Bulldogs will leave the state for the first time this season in two weeks to compete at the Mountain West Championship in Laramie, Wyo. on Oct. 28.
