How It Happened
Winning the opening set for the 13th time this season, the 'Dogs broke open a 17-17 tie with a 4-0 run getting kills from Grace Doyle and Ella Rud, a service ace by Doyle and blocks from Lauren Sabbatini and Kasey Purry. Maintaining a three-point lead at 24-21, a kill by Olivia Keller sealed the set to put the 'Dogs up 1-0.
The Falcons knotted the match at one set apiece with a wire-to-wire win in set two building a 20-11 lead before a late 5-0 run by the 'Dogs pulled Fresno State within four, but the Bulldogs were unable to get any closer in the set.
The third set saw the Falcons jump out in front, 17-8 with the 'Dogs able to pull within four late after back-to-back kills by Doyle and Rud cut Air Force's lead down to 23-19, but the final two points of the set went to the Falcons.
Looking to earn a win in the fourth set and send it to a deciding fifth set, the 'Dogs looked to be on their way with eight ties in the set on their way to a 24-24 tie, but a bad set and kill by the Falcons gave Air Force the deciding final two points to seal the victory.
