'Dogs drop four-setter at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Fresno State volleyball team fell in four sets at Colorado State on Saturday afternoon at Moby Arena.
Fresno State (6-18, 0-12 MW) took the opening set, 25-19, but dropped the next three sets, 24-26, 22-25, 16-25 to the Rams.
How It Happened
The 'Dogs used a 6-2 run ending with a kill from Ella Rud to break open an 11-11 tie in the opening set. With the 'Dogs up 17-13, a kill by Grace Doyle extended the Bulldogs lead to 22-17 and kills by Rud, Brooke Cowie and a service ace by Rud gave the 'Dogs the opening set.
The second set saw the Bulldogs get out to a 12-12 tie and take a 19-17 lead after a Ram attack error. A kill by Doyle put the 'Dogs ahead 24-21 and on the brink of taking a 2-0 lead, but five straight points by the Rams rallied CSU back to even the match.
The third set saw the Rams lead from the start to finish with the 'Dogs getting as close as one at 13-12 after a Ram service error. A quick 4-0 run by CSU put the home team ahead five and the Rams extended their lead to six on a pair of occasions before winning the set by three.
Looking to even the match at two sets apiece in the fourth, a kill by Rud put the 'Dogs ahead 4-2 early on, but CSU answered back with an 11-2 run to go up 13-6 and extended their lead to as large as 10 to seal the win.

The Bulldogs are back home next week to host Utah State (15-8, 7-5 MW) on Thursday and Boise State (14-9, 6-6 MW) on Saturday.
