'Dogs sit fifth after opening day of Utah Tech Invite

ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Highlighted by a first-place finish by Eleonora Trentin in the 50 Free, the Fresno State swimmers sit in fifth place after the opening day of the Utah Tech Invitational.

With the divers at the Lumberjack Diving Invite this weekend, the Bulldog swimmers scored 119 points on Thursday.

Joining Trentin among the top finishers on the day were Samarah Melia taking third in the 500 Free (4:57.45), Athena Clayson finishing ninth in the 200 IM (2:02.07) and the 200 Free Relay of Trentin, Clayson, Mackenzie Hutler and Julia Matney coming in second in a time of 1:33.14.

In total, the Bulldogs totaled 20 season best times on Thursday.

Day two of the Utah Tech Invitational gets started on Friday at 9 a.m. PT with prelims with finals set for 4 p.m. PT.
