'Dogs come up short in San Diego

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State volleyball team fell in straight sets at San Diego State on Monday evening at Peterson Gym.
Fresno State (7-20, 1-14 MW) saw San Diego State (8-18, 6-9 MW) take sets, 14-25, 23-25, 18-25.
How It Happened
The 'Dogs got off to a 6-6 tie in the opening set after a kill by Olivia Keller. An 11-3 run by the Aztecs put SDSU up 17-9 before a kill by Ella Rud momentarily ended the run, but a 6-0 run by SDSUÂ extended their lead to 13 and the home team went on to take the set, 25-14.
A service ace by Keller tied the second set at 13 apiece with an Aztec service error putting the 'Dogs up one. A 4-0 run by the Aztecs pushed SDSU back up three, but a 6-3 run by the 'Dogs that saw four kills, a service ace by Rud and block assists from Kasey Purry and Brooke Cowie knotted the set at 20. A solo block from Grace Doyle tied the set at 22 forcing a SDSU timeout, but the Aztecs came out of the break notching three of the set's final four points for the two-point set win.
With the Aztecs jumping out to an 11-6 lead in the third set, an attack error and back-to-back kills by Rud and Doyle brought the 'Dogs back within two at 11-9. A kill by Addison Haluska got the Bulldogs back within four at 18-14, but a 7-4 run by the Aztes closed out the set as the 'Dogs could not get any closer.
Notables
The Bulldogs close out the home portion of their schedule on Saturday hosting UNLV (22-3, 13-1 MW) at noon for Senior Day where they will honor fifth-year senior Lauren Sabbatini.
