LAS VEGAS – The No. 6-seeded Fresno State men's basketball team defeated the No. 11-seeded San Jose State Spartans 69-67 in overtime in the first round of the 2022 Mountain West Championships on Wednesday in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Fresno State (19-12) fended off San Jose State (8-23) behind another dominant performance by All-MW first-team honoree Orlando Robinson, who finished with a game-high 31 points, and big shots and stops down the stretch - especially Jordan Campbell's game-winning smooth floater with 0.6 seconds remaining in overtime.

The Bulldogs overcame a cold-shooting night from the perimeter with its defense and poise in a game that neither team led by more than five points at any point.

The win lifts Fresno State into the MW quarterfinals for the ninth time in its first 10 seasons in the conference.

Team Notes

Fresno State improved to 8-8 all-time in MW Tournament games (3-3 in head coach Justin Hutson's tenure).
Fresno State also improved to 6-4 in its MW Tournament opener (3-1 in first round games).
This is the third time Fresno State has been the No. 6 seed (2-2 record as No. 6 seed • 2-1 in Hutson's tenure).
This was Fresno State's third-straight overtime or more game (double overtime, overtime, overtime).
Fresno State is now 53-53 all-time in overtime games (44-44 in Division I era).
This was Fresno State's fourth overtime game this season, which is tied for the second-most in a single season in the program's Division I era (since the 1970-71 season).

Player Notes:

Fresno State junior forward Orlando Robinson set a new program MW Tournament record with 31 points and 11 field goals.
This was Robinson's fourth career game with at least 30 points (third this season).
Robinson has now scored 1,321 career points – passing Chris Herren (1996-99) for 20th all-time in program history.
Robinson is the 20th player in program history to score 1,300 or more points as a Bulldog.
