Season opens with Nick Watney Invitational at Kings River Country Club (Sept. 26-27).
FRESNO, Calif. – Like the Fresno State men's golf team has done in each of the last two seasons, the Bulldogs are set to open the 2022-23 season in the Central Valley with the Nick Watney Invitational, the first of nine tournaments during the regular season.
The season-opening tournament will be the Bulldogs' 58th home tournament, which was originally titled the Fresno State Classic and later renamed after Fresno State alum Nick Watney in 2014. This year's tournament will be hosted at Kings River Country Club in Kingsburg, Calif.
The Breakdown
From Head Coach Chad Spencer
"We open our season at home, this a big advantage to open on a familiar golf course and sleep in our own beds. The rest of the fall are tournaments we have been to and tournaments we have played well in in the past."
"The spring will be very competitive with events in Hawai'i, the desert and Brandon Dunes. Stanford will be a great event being held at Harding Park which recently hosted the PGA Championship."
"We're really looking forward to this season. We have some new faces and are overall pretty young but I'm expecting us to be a contender in the MW and for postseason."
