How It Happened
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the opening set after a kill by Brooke Cowie, but it was all Rebels after that who built a lead as large as seven at 16-9. With the 'Dogs pulling within four at 20-16 after a service ace by Ella Rud, UNLV tallied five of the set's final eight points for a 1-0 set lead.
The second set saw the Rebels lead from the outset building a quick 9-3 lead extending it to as large as eight at winning the set by that margin.
Showing tough fight in the third set, block assists from Grace Doyle and Molly Eppright pulled the 'Dogs within one at 8-7. A kill by Addison Haluska kept the Bulldogs within one at 16-15, but a 6-2 run by the Rebels pushed their lead to five. A block from Haluska and Kasey Purry momentarily got the 'Dogs back within three at 24-21, but a kill gave the Rebels match point and the win.
