Bulldogs earn 4-3 win over Hornets

FRESNO, Calif. -- The Fresno State women's tennis team opened its spring season by rallying for a 4-3 win over Sacramento State Hornets on Sunday afternoon at Fig Garden Swim & Racquet Club.
Fresno State (1-0) earned singles victories at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 positions, which included win by freshmen Meshkatolzahra Safi and Marii Vyshkina in their Bulldog debuts. Cristina Flaquer and Carolina Piferi each competed straight-set sweeps in their singles triumphs.
Safi and Vyshkina also partnered to pick up a quick 6-2 win in No. 2 doubles.
The annual home event at a rotating local country club engaged the community with strong support from the Red Wave throughout the contest.
