Sutherland shoots 14-under, places fourth

FAIRFAX, Calif. — Tying his career-low round with a 64 on Tuesday, Matthew Sutherland tied for fourth at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational at the Meadow Club. The senior moved up eight spots on the leaderboard in the final round with a bogey-free 7-under par.
Sutherland finished the week with a 14-under par 199, the second lowest score of his career.
Fresno State closed the the tournament with its lowest round of the week with an 11-under par 273. The Bulldogs placed ninth at 20-under par.
All five golfers in the Fresno State lineup were under par on Tuesday. Ryan Firpo chalked a 2-under par 69 to place 34th. Joseph Lloyd, Matthew Manganello and Mason Benbrook each finished the tournament with a 1-under par 70.
TEAM NOTES
- Matthew Sutherland's 199 tied for the second-lowest three-round score program history with Nick Watney (2002).
- Sutherland's 14-under par is the second lowest three-round score versus par of his career.
- Sutherland's 7-under par 64 tied the lowest one-round score of his career which he previously shot at the 2023 Maui Jim Intercollegiate.
