FRESNO, Calif. - The 2023-2024 NBA season tipped off on Oct. 24 but for former Fresno State Bulldogs, Paul Geroge of the Los Angeles Clippers and Orlando Robinson of the Miami Heat, their season began Wednesday, Oct. 25.
George enters his 13th year in the NBA while Robinson started his second both with one goal in mind, getting their teams to the NBA Finals.
Both players have made impressive strides in their NBA careers such as recovering from one of the worst injuries in the NBA to signing a contract with a team after playing on their G League team.Â
Robinson went undrafted in the 2022 but signed a two-way contract with Miami Heat's G League, Sioux Falls Skyforce, and the Miami Heat in October 2022.
During his time on the two-way contract Robinson played in 31 games for a total of 425 minutes. Robinson had 116 points, shot 52.8 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free throw line.
In July of 2023 Robinson was signed to a standard contract with the Miami Heat prior to his start in the Summer League.
Robinson had an impressive performance at July's Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada earning a spot on the All-Summer League first-team. Robinson averaged 29.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists in four games.
Despite having suffered a gruesome compound fracture in 2014, Paul George, a veteran in the NBA, continued his career and nine years later is a well-decorated NBA star.Â
George was selected 10th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. George currently plays with the Los Angeles Clippers. Accolades during his career include Most Improved Player in 2013, All-NBA first team in 2019 and All-NBA third team in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2021.Â
Throughout George's career he has played in 793 games and has started in 745 of those. In those 793 games George averaged 20.6 points per game totaling 16,361 points in 13 seasons.Â
The former Bulldogs entered the 2023-2024 NBA season with a championship in mind and the support of the Fresno State community.Â
