FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State softball team lost 6-5 to the Iowa State Cyclones and 5-2 to the Seattle U Redhawks on Friday at Margie Wright Diamond.
Fresno State (4-4) erased deficits and took the lead in both contests before falling in the closing frames.
Emma Martinez and Juliana Wilson each had multi-hit games in the nightcap against Seattle U (5-2) while five different Bulldogs recorded hits in the afternoon showdown with Iowa State (4-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
After allowing three runs in the top of the second, Fresno State answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning and then added four more in the third to build a 5-3 lead, which the Bulldogs held until the Cyclones rallied for three runs in the seventh.
In the second game of the day, Alesia Denby hit her second home run in as many days and one of Martinez' hits was a triple in the battle with the Redhawks. Serayah Neiss tossed 5.1 innings and had only allowed one run through the first five frames of the nightcap for the Bulldogs.
