L. Kalmar breaks Aquatic Center Record in 1000 Freestyle

FRESNO, Calif.-- Fresno State swimmer Laura Kalmar broke the Fresno State Aquatic Center pool record in the 1000 freestyle this past weekend.Â
Just shy of seven years to the day, Laura Kalmar broke the 1000 freestyle record by 4.9 seconds against UC Davis in Fresno State's final home meet of the 2023-24 season.Â
A record previously held by Fresno State's Ugne Mazutaityte, from the 2016-17 season who held the record with a time of 10:12.39.Â
In the last three meets, Kalmar has hit a strong peak in the long distance freestyle event, dropping around 25 seconds from early January to now, earning a season and personal best.Â

- Both Kalmar sisters have broken a record this season, Aliz with a program record in the 100 breaststroke and now Laura with an Aquatic Center Record in the 1000 freestyle
- Laura breaks an Aquatic Center record has was last made by Ugne Mazutaityte in Jan. 21, 2017 against CSU East BayÂ
- With her most recent time in the 1000 freestyle, Kalmar earns a CSCAA 'B' time standardÂ
- Kalmar is now ranked at No. 6Â in the Mountain West Performance list in the 1000 freestyleÂ
