SAN DIEGO- Fresno State women's tennis team fell to No. 60 San Diego State in their final road match of the season on Sunday afternoon at the Aztec Tennis Center, 4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State started off with a point after San Diego State defaulted on a court for doubles and singles, with only five active players available to play. Aztec's Gloria Alogo was unable to play due to an injury.
For doubles Bulldogs saw Matilde Magrini and Miskai Kobayashi on court one and Carolina Piferi with Eliza Dunbar on court two. Court three would have featured Charlotte Gisclon and Hannah Pieper. Match on court two wrapped up first as Piferi and Dunbar fell to Velcea/Skrobonja, 6-1. Magrini and Kobayshi started from behind to close in for a tie, 4-4. But Aztec pair Kabbaj/Petchey won the final two sets to grab the doubles point, 6-4.
Daria Nazarenko and Gianna Mastro saw themselves mixed into the singles line up at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. San Diego grabbed the next two points against Mastro and Nazarenko. Mariya Vyshkina faced her first ranked opponent of the season against No. 84 Skrobonja at No.2, also the first time in this flight.
