'Dogs down Bobcats in exhibition game

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's basketball team defeated the UC Merced Bobcats in an exhibition game on Sunday afternoon at the Save Mart Center, 73-49. 
How it happenedÂ
Bulldogs' opened on an 8-0 scoring run with Jaisa Gamble and Djessira Diawara locking in back-to-back baskets within the first thirty seconds. Fresno State kept UC Merced from their first field goal for over six minutes. 'Dogs held an eight point lead after the first ten with Gamble owning eight points. UC Merced was able to get in four shots from the field but could not break the Bulldogs double-digit lead by the end of the first half.Â
The second half proved fruitful for the Bulldogs as they dropped 38 points on the Bobcats. A 6-0 scoring run gave the Bulldogs their biggest lead of the night, 61-28 at the hands of a three-pointer from freshman Ava Marr, a layup by Avery Watkins and 1-of-1 trip by Briana Webb. Bulldogs' held the Bobcats to seven points in the third quarter. UC Merced got their groove in the fourth quarter outscoring the 'Dogs 21-12. Ashlyn Rean (2-of-2) and Gamble (4-of-5) were the only players putting up points for the Bulldogs in the final quarter.Â
