TALE OF THE TERRAIN
- Scenic Woodward Park, located in north Fresno, has played host to 14 NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships since the tournament's inaugural year of 1968.
- The park most recently hosted the 2004 NCAA Western Region Championship, the 2006 Western Athletic Conference Championships, and the 2014 Mountain West Championships.
- For the past three decades, the park has not only served as the base for all of Fresno State's home meets but has also quickly become one of the most well-traveled cross-country courses in the state.
- A mild rolling terrain, Woodward's course is 30 percent asphalt and 70 percent grass and dirt trails
- At all levels, Woodward Park has become an important developmental cross country course. The courses have remained the same through the years, allowing for consistent times and records.
DOGS ON THE COURSE
- Fresno State will enter all 10 male athletes for the 8k: Jacob Diaz, Gavin English, RJ Estrada, Noah Graffigna, Marcus Jauregui, Guillermo Lopez, Enrique Loredo, Emilio Nunez, Jaden Tungate and Elijah Williams.
- In addition, female runners Chiara Pedol, Morgan Hutchison, Hannah Pacheco, Rhiannon Walker, Ashley Villafana Rodriguez, Leah Mendibles, Janae Penner, Nayla Martin, Khushleen Khakh and Kylie Ward will be entered in the women's 6k race.
SENIOR SEASON
- Fresno State will have four seniors on the course for the Mountain West Championship including Morgan Hutchison, Leah Mendibles, Marcus Jauregui and Guillermo Lopez.
- This will be the first time that all four of them have run the Woodward course in a Bulldog uniform.
DRAKES TAKES
- "We are excited to host the meet and continue to build off the success of the season," Head Coach Jason Drake said. "Our women's team has a lot of conference experience running, and that experience is critical to succeed at the conference meet."
- "This year's men's team is way improved over last year. Last year, we lined up 7 new athletes, and this year, only 2. That helps! We are excited to get out and see where we are compared to last year."
