FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno State women's basketball team earned their third 20 point win of the season to remain undefeated with a 78-53 win over Seattle U at the Save Mart Center on Tuesday evening.Â
Bulldogs were led by two in scoring with Emilia Long logging her first 20 point game of the season, five shy of matching her career high and Ashlyn Rean with 15 points for her second double-figure game this season.Â
How it happenedÂ
Fresno State opened on a 6-0 spurt then let Seattle U grab a basket before another 5-0 run. Bulldogs built a double digit lead with two minutes in the first winding down, 24-10. 'Dogs finished the period out scoring the Redhawks 26-12.Â
Bulldogs'Â continued to dictate tempo in the following period. A string of buckets made for a 10-0 run for a 23 point lead going into the half. Long kicked off the run with a steal and a layup, followed by successful trips to the line for Hedda Koehne (4-of-4) and layups for Jaisa Gamble and Rean.Â
Fresno State shot 47% from the field (19-of-40) and 83% from the charity stripe (5-of-6), out rebounding Seattle 22 to 16 on a 23 point lead.Â
Another long scoring run put the Bulldogs back up after the Redhawks opened on a 7-2. Of the 10 points scored by Seattle in the third quarter six points came in the first three minutes from the field. It was a 14-0 scoring run that put the 'Dogs to a near thirty-point lead. In the scoring run Long grabbed six, Djessira Diawara came close behind with four points in the run. Indiya Clarke and Rean each put up a basket to add to the run.Â
Seattle tried to rally out of their slump with a fourth quarter surge opening on another scoring run, 6-0, but the Bulldog held tough to come away with the lead on a 10-5 run in the final two minutes. Ava Marr and Morelia Chavez both out up much needed three's in those final minutes, with Chavez last on the ball for the 'Dogs.Â
