'Dogs extend win streak with win over Baylor

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 7 Fresno State equestrian team defeated No. 10 Baylor 11-9 at the Student Horse Center on Friday afternoon, picking up its second Big 12 win of the season and extending its win streak to four meets in a row. The Bulldogs are riding their longest winning streak since the 2014-15 season.

The Bulldogs move to 7-3 overall on the year and 2-2 in Big 12 competition.

Fresno State had three Most Outstanding Performer honors in the meet with Paris Mahoney in the flat, Kendra Lee in the horsemanship and Alana Becker in the reining.

How it happened
Baylor took both the events in the opening half by a narrow margin. First, in the horsemanship, Fresno State scored points by freshman Hailey Olson and Kendra Lee with scores of 74.

In the fences, the Bulldogs earned points from Averey Pritchard and Olivia Ferro. Pritchard won her point in an 84-80 defeat while Ferro scored an 82.5 to her opponent's 78. The Bulldogs hung in, trailing 6-4 at halftime.

The Bulldogs' flat team stayed hot in the arena, taking the event 4-1. The Bulldogs won the first four points of the event by Sage Lindvall, Molly Stewart, Paris Mahoney and Autumn Bradbury. Mahoney earned her MOP with a 81-76 ride.

With the final event of the day left, the Bulldogs led 8-7. Baylor took the first point of the reining to tie it up but the Bulldogs would win the next three by Brogan Hill, Alison Heupel and Alana Becker. Becker earned the MOP with a 69.25-64 defeat of her opponent. Baylor won the final point by a narrow 69.25-69 win, but the Bulldogs had enough of a buffer to secure the win in the meet.
