Bulldogs drop match to Tritions

SAN DIEGO - The Fresno State women's tennis team dropped their second road match of the season to UC San Diego at Northview Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon, 6-1.Â
How it Happened
Fresno State's single point came from doubles play. Yinglak Jittakoat and Matilde Magrini called the match first on court one, defeating Haynes/Nguyen six games to two. Andjela Lopicic and Klara Vukiceic secured the point for the Bulldogs defeating Leung/Tabares six games to four. Eliza Dunbar and Paulina Montiel's match on court three was left unfinished, the Bulldog pair trailing four games to five.Â
UC San Diego claimed all six points from singles to win the match. Five of the Bulldogs singles matches were called in two sets, Magrini, Gisclon, Montiel, Dunbar, Vukicevic. In those five matches, Montiel was the only 'Dog to grab more than two games in a set, with four in set one (6-4). Sofia Pizzoni fought hard in the three set match against Leung on court two. Pizzoni won set two (6-1) for a chance to grab the Bulldogs another point, but fell in set three (6-4).Â
Up Next: Fresno State will continue the weekend with up north against CSUN on Sunday, Mar. 9 at 11 a.m. PT at Matador Tennis Complex. There will be not live stats available.Â
