Lloyd tied for first, Fresno State in fifth at MW Championship

CRESWELL, Ore. – Fresno State senior Joseph Lloyd is tied for first place at the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Golf Championship after firing a 6-under 66 in the opening round at the par-72, 7,123-yard Emerald Valley Golf Club. As a team, the Bulldogs sit in fifth place at 5-under.
No. 16 San Diego State leads the tournament at 19-under, followed by No. 47 New Mexico at 10-under. San Jose State holds third at 9-under, while No. 34 UNLV rounds out the top four at 8-under. Fresno State (-5), Utah State (-2), Nevada (-1), and Wyoming (-1) are packed in the middle of the leaderboard. Boise State (E), Colorado State (+2), and Air Force (+5) complete the field.
Lloyd shares the lead with San Diego State's Tyler Kowack after shooting a 6-under 66, marking his second-lowest round of the season. The senior tallied six birdies on the day.
Ryan Firpo is also inside the top 25, tied for 21st at 1-under. James Watney is close behind, posting an even-par 72 to tie for 28th.
Chris Bettencourt and Jaden Hunter are tied for 43rd at 2-over.
