Bulldogs' were led by Emilia Long, surpassing her 1,000 career point mark on 21 points (8-of-3) for the night. A season high five players finished the night in double-figures, Long, Ava Marr, Danae Powell, Djessira Diawara and Jaisa Gamble.Â
How it happenedÂ
Fresno State set the tone early in the opening period, using defensive pressure to jump out in front with a lead halfway in, 13-7. The Bulldogs forced the Aggies to five turnovers converting those turnovers into 12 points. Fresno State's activity on both ends established momentum that closed out the first period, 24-14. Long hit the 1,000 point mark after a nine point period showing, only needing eight for the milestone.Â
Fresno State extended their lead in the second period behind balanced scoring from Gamble, Marr, Powell, Clarke, Diawara and Long, 18-11. Marr sparked the offense with a 9-0 run to start. Fresno State continued to attack the paint adding in ten. Bulldogs' defense held Utah State in check for the opening four minutes of the quarter. Bulldogs held a comfortable 17 point lead into halftime, 42-25.
Fresno State maintained control coming out of the break outscoring Utah State 26-17. Marr dropped an impressive eight points in the period with a pair of three-pointers and 3-of-4 shooting from the field. A ten point scoring run as the period winded down extend the Bulldogs lead to twenty-eight point lead, 66-38.
Bulldogs held strong on their well established lead as the fourth period played on. Fresno State took advantage of Utah State's three minutes scoring drought taking off on a 6-0 run to close, 86-56.Â
