1/17/2026 7:53:00 PM | Men's Basketball
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State men's basketball team earned a 63–60 Mountain West win over Wyoming on Saturday afternoon at the Save Mart Center.
With the victory, the Bulldogs improved to 9-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play, while the Cowboys fell to 11-7 overall and 2-5 in Mountain West play.
DeShawn Gory and David Douglas Jr. led Fresno State with 13 points apiece. Gory added six rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Douglas Jr. connected on two three-pointers and went 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Jake Heidbreder chipped in 10 points and four assists, and Wilson Jacques anchored the defense with nine rebounds and four blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Wyoming came out hot from beyond the arc, knocking down three early three-pointers to build a 16–9 advantage. Fresno State answered with energy on the defensive end, forcing turnovers and turning them into transition points to stay within striking distance.
The Bulldogs found their rhythm midway through the first half, using strong interior play from Gory and Jacques to cut into the deficit. A David Douglas Jr. three-pointer with 6:19 remaining gave Fresno State its first lead of the afternoon, and the teams traded baskets down the stretch before heading into halftime tied at 27.
The second half featured six ties and nine lead changes as neither team could create separation. Fresno State attacked the rim consistently, drawing fouls and getting to the free-throw line, while limiting Wyoming's perimeter shooting.
In the final minutes, the Bulldogs made timely defensive stops and capitalized at the stripe to protect a slim lead. Fresno State outscored Wyoming 37–33 in the second half and closed out the three-point victory in front of the home crowd.
