Bulldogs down Aggies on Senior Day

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State swim and dive defeated UC Davis at the Fresno State Aquatics Center in dominating style for senior day on Saturday afternoon, 165-127.
How it happened
Prior to the start of the meet, Fresno State recognized eight outstanding senior Bulldogs, Grace Ally, Samantha Arredondo, Natalia Bedolla, Aliz & Laura Kalmar, Mackenzie Miller Lung, Clara Laskey and Marija Rutkauskaite.
Fresno State opened with a win in the first two events. The 200 medley relay touched for a time of 1:39.04 with Miller Lung hitting a 26.35 breaststroke split. Laura Kalmar took the win in the 1000 freestyle and 500 freestyle. Aggies claimed the 200 freestyle but Bulldogs stormed through to take the next nine events. Freshman standout Hayley Oke saw two event wins in the afternoon in the 100 butterfly (54.88) and the 100 backstroke (54.27).
A strong 1-2-3 finish for Fresno State in the 100 breaststroke with Miller Lung taking the top spot on a 58.72 holding 27.73 opening 50-yard split. Aliz Kalmar touched second (1:02.99) while Brooke Beauvais rounded out third place (1:04.48). Clare Luken was the next 'Dog to grab an event win, this time in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.09), Franzi Djatej placed second for the 'Dogs (2:03.01). Miller Lung was a repeat winner for the 200 breaststroke (2:09.17), the senior opened the race with a 28.78 split. Taking it with speed Jenna Pulkkinen earned the event win in the 50 freestyle.
UC Davis took the final two events in the 400 IM and 400 freestyle relay but Fresno State held the advantage to take the dual meet, 165-127.
Up next: The Fresno State diving crew will head to USAFA for the Air Force diving invite beginning Thursday, Jan. 29 through Saturday, Jan. 31, while the swimmers will see action at San Jose on Saturday, Jan. 31st.
