Bulldogs battle to finish in Laramie

How it happened
Wyoming opened the game with an early edge, but Fresno State answered quickly as Indiya Clarke knocked down a three to put the Bulldogs in front. The 'Dogs leaned into their interior attack and rebounding to stay within a possession most of the quarter. Bulldogs grabbed key finishes from Diawara Wyoming's late scores created separation at end of the quarter, sending Fresno State into the second trailing, 14-11.
Fresno State's defense took over in the second period, holding Wyoming to just one point in the quarter and forcing six turnovers. The Bulldogs created extra possessions on the offensive glass and converted at the line to flip the score, with Powell and Hedda Koehne providing a lift inside. Fresno State carried the momentum into halftime with a 20-15 lead.
The Bulldogs stayed aggressive coming out of the break, extending the lead behind Watkins' work in the paint and Diawara as Fresno State kept Wyoming chasing. Wyoming answered with timely perimeter shots to trim the margin, but Fresno State's defensive activity helped the 'Dogs maintain control. The Bulldogs took a 33-30 advantage with ten minutes to play.Â
Wyoming opened the fourth with a three to tie the game and the final minutes turned into a possession-by-possession battle. Fresno State briefly regained the lead after Jaisa Gamble jumped for a steal, finishing on a layup. Bulldogs' held a 38-33 advantage mid-quarter, but Wyoming's late threes and transition finishes shifted the momentum. With the score tied at 42, the Cowgirls took the lead in the final two minutes and closed it out at the free-throw line.Â
