'Dogs take Falcons down on the road

USAFA, Colo. – The Fresno State men's basketball team earned a 79–62 Mountain West road victory over Air Force on Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 10–11 overall and 4–6 in conference play, while the Falcons fell to 3–18 on the season and 0–10 in Mountain West action.
David Douglas Jr. led Fresno State with a game-high 21 points, knocking down five three-pointers and shooting 7-of-11 from the field. Jake Heidbreder added 14 points, three assists, and three steals, while Zaon Collins chipped in 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Wilson Jacques anchored the paint with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Fresno State shot 46.7 percent from the floor and connected on 12 three-pointers, while forcing 17 Air Force turnovers that led to 18 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State came out firing, opening the game with back-to-back three-pointers and building an early lead behind hot perimeter shooting. Douglas Jr. knocked down three triples in the opening half as the Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the field and went 7-of-14 from beyond the arc before halftime.
Air Force stayed within striking distance through the first 20 minutes, but a late Bulldogs surge, capped by a corner three from Aram Soqui Urbano, pushed Fresno State into the break with a 44–39 advantage.
The Bulldogs took control early in the second half, opening on a 12–3 run highlighted by a Heidbreder three and a Douglas Jr. layup to extend the lead to double digits. Fresno State's defense tightened from there, holding the Falcons to just 23 second-half points.
Fresno State maintained steady separation the rest of the way, pushing the lead as high as 16 and closing out the road win with balanced scoring and strong defensive rebounding.
