How it happenedÂ
Fresno State threatened in the first inning behind consecutive singles from Emma Martinez and Natalie Elias. The Bulldogs put two on with no outs, and advanced both into scoring position, but were unable after Tiara Westbrook struck out swinging.Â
Fresno State saw another hit in the second inning after Mallory Vancleave singled to right center. Bulldogs worked overtime in the third leaving three Huskies on bases in the third inning.Â
Washington broke through in the fourth. After a leadoff double, the Huskies used a two-run home run to take the lead. Later in the inning, another two-run blast extended the margin before a wild pitch plated the fifth run of the frame, giving the Huskies a 5-0 advantage.
Fresno State got on the board in the seventh inning. Jaime Hicks opened the frame with a double to right field and moved to third on a ground out. Hill followed with an RBI double to center, driving in Hicks for the Bulldogs' lone run.
