HOUSTON - The Fresno State swim and dive team completed the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships in fourth place with 913 points. Bulldogs come away with two event titles by Mackenzie Miller Lung in the breaststroke events and a podium placement in eight events.Â
How it happenedÂ
Fresno State's first championship final came from Ryley Clark in the 200 backstroke. The sophomore rounded out the heat in eighth place. Â
Washington State's Lundgren gave it a heck of a shot in the 200 breaststroke, with the first-team All-American leading most of the race, only to get touched out by 2025 NCAA runner-up Mackenzie Lung. Now at Fresno State, Lung covered the final 50 in 31.73 to surge past Lundgren by .01 as she hit first in 2:07.03, a Mountain West record. For the second straight year, Kalmar returned to the third step on the podium in the 200 breaststroke. The senior marked a new season best with a time of 2:08.57. Jenna Pulkkinen slipped into the top five on a 2:09.92 touch.Â
The 1650 freestyle proved fruitful for the Bulldogs with all four swimming season best times. Laura Kalmar topped the team with tenth place (16:53.17), Riley Baldwin in 15th (17:05.13), Ava Elliott rounded out the top-20 in 18th (17:10.43) while freshman Caroline Grimsley finished in 22nd place (17:19.19).Â
In the diving well, all three divers had strong showings in the platform event qualifying past preliminaries. Parker Connor finished the consolation round in fourth to take 12th in the event. Grace Ally secured her bronze medal on her final dive scoring a 67.20. Natalia Bedolla rounded out the championship group in eighth place.Â
