2/28/2026 10:13:00 PM | Men's Basketball
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State Bulldogs men's basketball fell to the Boise State Broncos men's basketball, 69-53, on Saturday night at the Save Mart Center.
With the loss, Fresno State moved to 12-17 overall and 6-12 in Mountain West play, while Boise State improved to 18-11 (10-8 MW).
DeShawn Gory led the Bulldogs with a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds for his double-double, adding two steals and a block in 39 minutes. Wilson Jacques added 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting and chipped in four rebounds and a pair of blocks. Jac Mani contributed seven points off the bench, while Cameron Faas and Jake Heidbreder each knocked down a three-pointer.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Boise State came out firing from deep, connecting on eight first-half 3-pointers to take control early. After Fresno State briefly grabbed a 3-2 lead on a jumper from Gory, the Broncos responded with back-to-back triples from Meadow and Buchanan to spark a 9-0 run and build an 11-5 advantage. Boise continued to capitalize on second-chance opportunities, pulling down 11 offensive rebounds in the first half, and stretched its lead to double digits midway through the period.
The Bulldogs fought back behind Gory, who scored 12 first-half points, including a pair of late jumpers in the paint to trim the deficit to five. However, Boise closed the half on a 5-2 spurt to take a 28-23 lead into the break.
Fresno State opened the second half with a quick bucket from Jacques to cut it to three, but the Broncos answered immediately. Buchanan ignited a key stretch, scoring eight points in a four-minute span, including a three-point play and a triple, to push the lead back to double digits at 38-27.
The Bulldogs narrowed the gap to seven at 48-41 after a three from Heidbreder and a layup by Mani with just over 10 minutes to play. But Boise responded once again, using an 11-4 run capped by a Meadow three-pointer to extend the lead to 59-45 with 6:20 remaining.
Fresno State would get no closer than eight the rest of the way as the Broncos controlled the glass and converted at the free-throw line down the stretch to seal the 16-point victory.
NOTES
The Bulldogs will celebrate seniors Jake Heidbreder and Cameron Faas on Tuesday night for Senior Day against San Jose State at 6 p.m. PT at the Save Mart Center.
