Bulldogs fall to Lady Rebels

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's basketball team fell to UNLV on Saturday afternoon at the Save Mart Center, 68-54.Â
How it happenedÂ
Game opened with UNLV making the first two baskets before Jaisa Gamble threw in a layup. Emilia Long secured the 'Dogs next basket with a deep three, keeping the score close, 10-7. Morelia Chavez backed it up with another shot from beyond the arc. Lady Rebels dropped in two more for a light lead, 18-10.Â
Bulldogs' went to the line twice before their first goal of the second period. A 6-2 run that favored Fresno State broke the Lady Rebel's first double digit lead of the game, 26-19. Gamble sank one more three to close the opening half for the Bulldogs.Â
Fresno State outlasted the Lady Rebels to out the second half on a 14-12 period. Ava Marr and Gamble contributed four points each to the 'Dogs scoring efforts. A 5-0 spurt off the hands of Marr and a three from Powell kept it close, 40-31.Â
Bulldogs played another tight quarter with the Lady Rebels, 20-18. Fresno State began to break down the 22-point lead the Lady Rebels built in the first five minutes. Long put down a solo 5-0 run to start the cut. Keeping up the momentum, Bulldog were 4-of-4 in their last field goals of the game.Following Long, Powell and Marr each produced shots from downtown. Long made it back to the line for the final points (3-4), 68-54.Â
