Bulldogs roll to road win over Spartans

Fresno State was led by five 'Dogs who finished the night in double-digits led by Emilia Long with 19 points and Morelia Chavez, who stunned with a career-high 13 points, seven rebounds and five three-point field goals. Ava Marr, Danae Powell and Hedda Koehne all contributed double-digit efforts.Â
How it happenedÂ
Fresno State set the tone early, jumping in front behind a pair of early threes from Powell, 11-4. Long knocked down another shot from downtown pushing the lead near double-figures. Koehne pulled out a quick solo run knocking in two more baskets to close the opening period, 22-11.Â
The Bulldogs blew the game open in the second, holding the Spartans to four points in the period while pouring in 21 of their own. Fresno State buried five triples in the quarter from Ava Marr and Morelia Chavez, taking a 43-15 advantage into halftime.
San Jose State tried to find more rhythm in the second half with a 21-point period but Fresno State's lead could not be broken. Jaisa Gamble got the ball rolling on a 1-of-1 trip at the charity line. Bulldogs' managed to get in more shots in small spurts to keep a comfortable cushion heading to the fourth, 60-34.
Chavez took the Bulldogs to their largest lead of the night minutes into the final quarter, 69-38. A 6-0 run favoring the 'Dogs played out the final two minutes of the contest. Long, Diawara and Powell all got hands on the ball to call game, 79-50.Â
